Riverside FFA Landscape Service Project
FFA students in the greenhouse horticulture class designed and landscaped underneath the high school football field. Prior to the landscape project students learned about plant science, soil science, and landscape design to build up to this service project or this service project FFA members mapped out how they would like to layout the landscape. Next students laid weed preventing matting down over the landscape, planted a variety of flowers, and shrubs and covered up the matting with washed stone. Lastly, FFA students watered and fertilized each plant. Each year the Riverside FFA Chapter completes a Community Service Project. The purpose of the Community Service Project is to provide an opportunity for the chapter members to demonstrate the skills necessary in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a community service project. This is a chapter or class project that provides an
opportunity for FFA members to develop a better understanding of the role civic activities have in society, to make a contribution to a community service or charity, and to learn and apply the principles of the numerous components of marketing management.
